On March 25, the House of Human Rights was visited by Russian civilian sailors, who had previously been exchanged for Ukrainian sailors, and received temporary identity cards of citizens of the Russian Federation.

Their ship was hit by a shell in the neutral waters of the Black Sea, after which a fire broke out on board the ship, equipment and lifeboats were destroyed, the crew consisting of ten people left the ship in life jackets. Russian citizens injured in the incident were taken to a hospital in the city of Chernomorsk in the Odessa region.

«We were all very worried about the fate of our sailors, who, after a shell hit their ship, had to urgently escape and ended up in the Chernomorsk hospital in the Odessa region. As soon as we received the first signals from their relatives, we immediately turned to the Ministry of Defense of the Russian Federation. She also addressed the head of the mission of the International Committee of the Red Cross in Ukraine, Florence Gillette, with a request to provide all possible urgent assistance to the members of the ship’s crew. As a result of the tremendous work of the Russian Ministry of Defense and the Russian Foreign Ministry, they were exchanged for Ukrainian sailors, and now we have them in the House of Human Rights," said Tatyana Moskalkova, Commissioner for Human Rights in the Russian Federation, during a meeting with the sailors.
