Mass media contest "Human rights in focus"

On May 3, on World Press Freedom Day, proclaimed by the UN General Assembly, mass media contest for the best coverage of the human rights issues and human rights activities "Human rights in focus" starts.

The contest is launched under the under the aegis of the High Commissioner of Human Rights in the Russian Federation and the Russian Union of Journalists.

The contest is aimed at attracting the mass media to broader and more objective coverage of the human rights issues and human rights activities; assistance to the observance and respect of human and civil rights and freedoms by state authorities and local self-government bodies, officials, state and municipal employees; popularization of the best human rights practices, etc.
