In 2020 High Commissioner received the largest number of appeals in 5 years

In 2020, the High Commissioner for Human Rights in the Russian Federation received 44,087 applications, including 1,910 (4.3%) collective complaints.

A certain increase in the number of appeals (by 15%) compared to 2019 was influenced by the spread of a new coronavirus infection, as well as the introduction of new formats for a reception of complaints. The number of collective appeals also increased (by 13.5%).

Citizens' complaints were received via mail, e-mail, telephone and hotline, in social networks, as well as in person.

The innovation of 2020 has been the launch from March 27 of a special hotline of the Commissioner for the prompt (within 24 hours) consideration of citizens' appeals concerning the spread of the new coronavirus infection COVID-19.
