From June 29 to July 1, the GANHRI Annual Meeting was held online.

On June 30, the Knowledge Exchange event took place on the best practices developed by National Human Rights Institutions (hereinafter — NHRI) during the COVID-19 pandemic. The event was attended by over 120 representatives of NHRIs from around the world.

The GANHRI provided a platform to highlight the experience of working during a pandemic in all areas, including combating domestic violence, access to medical care, ensuring the rights of vulnerable groups of the population, the right to education, border crossing, vaccination, etc.

The representative of the High Commissioner for Human Rights in the Russian Federation presented the experience of the Russian NHRI, outlining new forms of activities (opening of a "hot line", receiving citizens by video-conferencing, etc.) and new subjects of citizens' appeals, in particular, on the issue of the return of Russian citizens to their homeland in the conditions of closed borders. The event participants were presented with a thematic report "Protecting human rights in the context of the spread of a new coronavirus infection" to better understand the activities of the Russian Commissioner during the COVID-19 pandemic.
