High Commissioner appealed to Prosecutor General’s Office in defense of rights of detained chechens

In March High Commissioner for Human Rights in the Russian Federation Tatiana Moskalkova received via mass media an open appeal from Zara Magamadova, the mother of Salekh Magamadov and Ismail Isaev, who had been in Nizhny Novgorod on suspicion of complicity in terrorism.
In addition, mass media previously published an article about the facts of physical pressure on young during their detention, as well as their right to protection.
As a result, the federal ombudswoman sent a request to the Attorney General’s Office to conduct an investigation.
The situation is under control of the High Commissioner.
