Ella Pamfilova took part in the conference on labour rights protection mechanisms development in Russia
On 20 May, Commissioner for Human Rights in Russia Ella Pamfilova took part in the plenary meeting at the international conference ‘Labour Rights Under Crisis Circumstances: Trade Unions’ and Society Challenges and Strategies’.
Participants in the meeting discussed current problems connected with the specifics of human rights protection under conditions of social and economic development of the society.
Among other topics of the conference there were efficiency of labour rights protection mechanisms under the global crisis conditions, interaction between public and state institutions for the purpose of labour rights protection, as well as development of trade unions and trade unions’ rights.
The conference has been held in Moscow in the framework of the IX Convention of the Confederation of Labour of Russia. Other participants to the convention include General Secretary of the International Trade Union Confederation Sharan Burrow, representatives of the International Labour Organisation, leaders of trade unions from former Soviet republics, as well as legislative and executive officials.
