On 19 January, Commissioner for Human Rights in the Russian Federation Ella Pamfilova appealed to Minister of Culture of Russia Vladimir Medinsky with a request to prevent destruction of Privalov’s apartment buildings.
"Preserving cultural heritage is the basis for further development of society and the constitutional obligation of each citizen of the country," the Commissioner underscored. The appeal says that the Privalov’s Group of Apartment Buildings is an architectural monument of the early 20th century, and according to the opinion of the state historic and cultural expert committee it should be included in the registry of cultural heritage of federal importance.
On 24 December 2014, a special commission at the Government of Moscow ordered to demolish the merchant Privalov’s apartment buildings. At present, some destruction operations have been held on Sadovnicheskaya street in Moscow.
