During visit to Kyrgyz Republic High Commissioner held working meeting with a representative of compatriots' public organizations

On September 5, during the visit to the Kyrgyz Republic, Tatiana Moskalkova held a working meeting with representatives of compatriots' public organizations.
Human rights activists asked the High Commissioner a number of questions and applied with request for help in realization the right to obtain education in Russia for compatriots residing in the Kyrgyz Republic on the basis of temporary registration.
Last year, out of 363 special quotas allocated for candidates, only 26 of our compatriots entered Russian universities. "The allocation of quotas for both citizens of Kyrgyzstan, and for compatriots residing on the territory of the Republic, aims to a future friendly elite formation with strong ties with Russia. It is very important to strengthen these ties through the education system", Tatiana Moskalkova explained to the audience.
Also, our compatriots are interested in the problems of elderly people, many of whom, especially single people, would like to spend the rest of their days in their homeland. And pensioners are ready to pay by themselves for their living in homes for the elderly. However, they often fail, because according to Russian law only citizens permanently residing in the territory of the Russian Federation can reside in such institutions.
We also need to solve the problem with textbooks for Russian schools. At the moment, students are provided with old, shabby books, used by many generations of schoolchildren, and there are not enough funds for new ones.
All the appeals of the compatriots were taken by the High Commissioner under personal control. At the end of the meeting, heads of NGOs addressed Tatiana Moskalkova with a request to provide methodological assistance in work with the international entities, in particular, in the format of master classes. In addition, the participants noted the tremendous assistance that the Embassy of the Russian Federation in the Kyrgyz Republic and Rossotrudnichestvo are providing to public associations of compatriots in Kyrgyzstan.
This morning, in framework of the working visit, the High Commissioner will speak at the forum "The Commissioner’s Role in the Improvement of Legal Acts in the Field of Human Rights: Expectations and Prospects", and the signing of the Memorandum on the Establishment of the Eurasian Alliance of Ombudspersons is scheduled for the afternoon.
