Dialogue with High Commissioner. Marriage abroad

Perhaps one of the most difficult tasks in my work is to protect our compatriots abroad. Indeed, each country has its laws, its rules, and compromise can only be achieved through dialogue.
I received an appeal from a citizen of the Russian Federation who married on the territory of Kyrgyzstan. The circumstances were such that the couple divorced (also outside our country) and the applicant needed to return to Russia to look after her disabled son.
To prematurely retire and devote herself to caring for her son, the woman needed a certificate of marriage, but she could not get it. I promised to help her.
Based on the Memorandum of Cooperation, I turned to my colleague, Ombudsman of the Kyrgyz Republic T. Mamytov, with a request to assist my applicant in obtaining the necessary documents. The problem was solved in less than two months — the rights of my applicant were restored.
That is why I pay so much attention to cooperation with ombudsmen of foreign countries. In today’s world there are no barriers, hundreds of aircraft cross the borders of states every second. Therefore, the international component of protecting human rights is of particular importance.
I am glad that I managed to establish such productive relations with many foreign colleagues. Together we can accomplish so mush!
