Dialogue with High Commissioner. Justice for the innocent

"I’m innocent, help!" — sounds like a cry of desperation in the address for protection of honor.

I was addressed by K., in whose case numerous violations of the criminal procedural law were committed. In February 2015, the man was taken into custody, the defense and prosecutors repeatedly petitioned to change the preventive measure for house arrest.

In December 2015, the prosecutor’s office sent a letter to the Main Investigation Department of the Investigative Committee of the Russian Federation for the City of Moscow with information on defects during the criminal investigation. After 10 months, the measure of restraint for the man was changed to house arrest. But the story did not end there.

The Moscow City Public Prosecution Office repeatedly submitted applications for the release of the accused to the judicial board of criminal cases of the Moscow City Court.

Based on the results of studying the materials of the criminal case against K., the supervisory authority came to the conclusion that it was unlawful and unfounded to keep him under house arrest and that it is a violation of the article 171 of the Code of Criminal Procedure of the Russian Federation. Despite this, the investigating authorities did not eliminate the violations committed.

In September 2016, I forwarded the appeal to the Chairman of the Investigation Committee of the Russian Federation, Alexander Bastrykin.

A year later the criminal prosecution against K. was stopped and he was recognized for his right to rehabilitation and compensation for property and non-pecuniary damage.

The restoration of the rights of an innocent person took two years. More than 700 days under constant emotional stress — this is a real nightmare. I did everything in my powers to achieve justice for K. and every day I do the same for all who address me.
