On April 11, High Commissioner for Human Rights in the Russian Federation Tatiana Moskalkova met with leaders of public organizations of persons with disabilities.

During the event, Tatiana Moskalkova said that representatives of public organizations of persons with disabilities would join the Council on the rights of persons with disabilities under the High Commissioner for Human Rights in the Russian Federation.

"I support the creation of a public Council on the rights of persons with disabilities under the High Commissioner’s Office. My colleagues and I will elaborate provisions, determine the size, composition and procedure for nomination. It should function and deal with concrete cases," Tatiana Moskalkova said.

According to the High Commissioner, she is to prepare a special report on the rights of persons with disabilities to be introduced to the President of the Russian Federation, the State Duma and other authorities.

The meeting was held within the educational project "Festival "Integration-2019", which goals are the human rights education of people with disabilities and the development of their competencies to protect the rights on their own. Within three months, starting in April, there will be held master classes, lectures, seminars, trainings and legal workshops.
