On 4–5 June, a meeting of the Coordination Council of Commissioners for Human Rights in Constituent Entities of the Russian Federation took place in Moscow. The meeting was co-chaired by High Commissioner for Human Rights in Russia Ella Pamfilova and Commissioner for Human Rights in Saint-Petersburg Alexander Shishlov.

Director of the Federal Penitentiary Service of Russia Gennadiy Kornienko, Deputy Chief Justice of the Supreme Court of the Russian Federation Vladimir Davydov, Deputy Secretary of the Civic Chamber of the Russian Federation Alexander Muzykantskiy, Chairman of the Civic Chamber Commission for Security and Interaction with PMCs Anton Tsvetkov took part in the meeting.

Problems connected with protection of rights of prisoners, consequences of liquidation and re-organization of the FPS of Russia’s facilities on the territory of the constituent entities of the Russian Federation, as well as issues of social adaptation of released prisoners were among key subjects of the discussion.

To solve the pressing problems in that area it was decided to improve the forms of cooperation between the human rights commissioners and the FPS of Russia, along with local departments of the service in the constituent entities of the Russian Federation and administration officials of penitentiary facilities, as well as with members of public monitoring commissions.
