Commissioner for Human Rights in Russia submitted a report to President of Russian Federation on result of work in 2014

This is the first report of Ella Pamfilova as the Commissioner for Human Rights in Russia, appointed to this constitutional post by the State Duma of the Russian Federation on 18 March last year.

The document is rigorously structured and includes three parts.

The first chapter for the first time ever provides social and legal monitoring of the development of the human rights situation in Russia from three different points of view: public opinion, non-governmental human rights organisations’ and Human Rights Commissioner’s.

The second and the main chapter is entirely devoted to the problems of human rights protection and restoration, faced by the Commissioner while considering the appeals and complaints filed in 2014. The Chapter introduces a section devoted to the Crimea situation.

The third and the final chapter provides brief analysis of the main reasons that lead to the violation of rights and freedoms, as well as priorities and prospective fields of work of the Commissioner in 2015. It also contains specific recommendations and proposals of the Commissioner to executive, legislative and judicial authorities based on the results of consideration of citizens’ appeals.

According to the law of the Russian Federation the full text of the Report is published in the Rossiyskaya Gazeta.
