Tula Commissioner visited elections in Bogoroditsk

10 September 2017

From 8 o’clock in the morning — immediately after the polling stations opened for the elections of deputies of the local self-government representative body in Bogoroditsk — Commissioner for Human Rights in the Tula region Galina Fomina has been observing the voting process. By noon, the Ombudsperson visited 7 polling stations.

— The first thing I pay attention to is the opportunity of people with disabilities to realize their electoral rights. That’s why firstly I visited the polls adapted for challenged persons’ voting. I can say that both I and the voters who came by wheelchairs were satisfied with how the polls were prepared. I can say that the citizens of Bogoroditsk are showing an enviable consciousness, they are willing to go to the polls. One woman told me this: "I can’t look after the city life just standing at the window. I have to take part in it." I like such approach. I also should note that the elections are going smoothly. There are observers at all the polls, they do not detect any violations, — said Galina Fomina.
