Tatiana Moskalkova: "Human rights can not be an arena for speculation and clarifying political relations"

On December 8, High Commissioner for Human Rights in the Russian Federation Tatiana Moskalkova spoke on the significance of the International Human Rights Day and topical issues that are of particular concern to every Russian on the air of the "Rossiya 24" TV channel.

As Tatiana Moskalkova noted, in the world there are different approaches to understanding human rights, and the subject of discussion is not only legal procedures, but also worldview concepts.

"Today, the IOC decided that Russian athletes can compete only under the Olympic flag, but the State flag does not rise. What explains this approach to the rights of athletes and millions of people who will watch these events? Of course, when the flag of the state rises it is a symbol of national pride, this is an affiliation with the national worldview and the community. The entire Russian community sees this as discrimination," the High Commissioner said.

To the question of the presenter about the most common problem which is being addressed to the High Commissioner, Tatiana Moskalkova singled out ecology, medicine, education, and first of all large lines for social housing.

"The queues are moving very slowly, and people are protesting about it," the High Commissioner noted.

Tatiana Moskalkova also told about the help to foreign currency mortgage lenders, Crimean citizens, who had problems with the citizenship of the Russian Federation, the migration problem and international cooperation.

In addition, within the framework of the interview, the High Commissioner paid special attention to the educational program "Human Rights" and the All-Russian open lesson on human rights that took place on December 1.
