Veteran of Great Patriotic War assigned and given long service pension

With assistance of the High Commissioner for Human Rights in the Russian Federation, the right of a veteran of the Great Patriotic War (1941–1945), retired lieutenant colonel, to receive a long service pension. The required documents were processed; the veteran received all the money due and will further receive the superannuation.

The Supreme Court of the Russian Federation granted a petition of the High Commissioner for Human Rights in Russia, having restored the right of citizen F. to a fair trial, the official reply received by the High Commissioner’s Office in April 2016 says. The administrative offence case of Mr F. was closed and previous judgements were overruled.

Major violations of human rights in SIZO-4 investigated, guilty held liable

The Director of Pretrial Detention Centre No. 4 of the Moscow Department of the Federal Penitentiary Service of Russia (SIZO-4), the Deputy Director of the Operations Department, two detectives of the Operations Department and a medical assistant of the centre’s medical unit were dismissed. Deaths of accused persons and infliction of bodily harm to people in the detention centre are being properly investigated: criminal cases have been initiated, checks are being held.

On 6 April, former commander of a military unit, Mr K., expressed his appreciation to the High Commissioner for Human Rights in Russia for thorough consideration of his petition. According to the complainant, with assistance of the High Commissioner his criminal case was returned to the investigator for reformulation and decreasing the amount of charges.
