Federal Service for Surveillance in Healthcare agreed with Irkutsk Region Commissioner: regional psychiatric service needs upgrading
The Federal Service for Surveillance in Healthcare sent a letter to the Governor of Irkutsk Region with a proposal to take drastic measures to improve the mental health services in the region. The materials provided by Commissioner for Human Rights in Irkutsk Region Valeriy Lukin revealed numerous violations of rights of citizens with mental illness.
From 28 June to 18 July, the series of seminar meetings of Commissioner for Human Rights in Nizhny Novgorod Region Nadezhda Otdelkina with her public assistants took place. Interdistrict meetings were held in Nizhny Novgorod, Gorodets, Arzamas, Uren, Sergach, and Arzamassky Municipal District. Tasks and aims of the public assistants, and the methods of cooperation with the human rights protection system of the region were discussed in the meetings.
Commissioner for Human Rights in Primorye Territory Veleriy Rozov helped 219 students of an Ussuriysk institute deprived of accreditation to graduate and receive diplomas.
With assistance of Commissioner for Human Rights in the Republic of Ingushetia Dzhambulat Ozdoev, the property right to a land plot was restored. The prosecutor’s examination initiated by the Commissioner revealed that the plot had been illegally occupied, and the unauthorized construction was demolished.
On 14 July, a round table of members of working group ‘Civil Society’ and representatives of Saint-Petersburg NGOs took place within the framework of XV Russian and German Forum ‘Petersburg Dialogue’.
On 13 July, the Legislative Assembly of Leningrad Region introduced amendments to the Law On Free Providing Certain Categories of Citizens with Land Lots in Leningrad Region. The draft law aimed at improving the housing conditions of disabled persons and families with a disabled person was elaborated by the Office of Commissioner for Human Rights in Leningrad Region Sergey Shabanov.
On 14 July, Commissioner for Human Rights in Ulyanovsk Region Lyudmila Krutilina met with the initiative group of the large families residing in the Zavolzhsky District of Ulyanovsk City. Social rights protection was the issue discussed.
On 12 July, Commissioner for Human Rights in Orenburg Region Anatoly Chadov visited the Temporary Holding Cell of Intermunicipal Division of the MIA of Russia ‘Sharliksky’ (IVS) and revealed some gross violations of detention conditions.
Commissioner for Human Rights in the Komi Republic Nadezhda Bykovskaya held open office hours in Ust-Kulomsky District and met with the district’s administration head.
Commissioner for Human Rights in Omsk Region and the Omsk Regional Organisation of the Russian Union of Journalists hold competition among journalists ‘Every right has a right’.
