On 3 August, Commissioner for Human Rights in Ulyanovsk Region Lyudmila Krutilina took part in the First Open Public Prosecution Forum in Ulyanovsk Region. The problems of statutory compliance in the field of social protection of disabled people were considered as part of the forum’s second module.
On 4 July, a live broadcast of the regular programme ‘Human Rights’ took place on the Public Television of Russia. It was devoted to public legal education in the housing and utility services field, which is not quite popular with national broadcasters. The programme’s guest was Commissioner for Human Rights in Tula Region Galina Fomina who believes that nowadays each owner should possess at least some minimum of legal knowledge.
Joint inspection of local Commissioner and Head of Election Commission to be conducted in Sverdlovsk Region
On 8 August, Commissioner for Human Rights in Sverdlovsk Region and the Head of the local Election Commission will jointly visit the city of Novouralsk to investigate registered election process violations.
The government of the Republic of Buryatia has considered the proposal of Commissioner for Human Rights in the Republic of Buryatia Yulia Zhambalova and has taken measures to save the existing grouping of the State Firefighting Service. The reductions of the fire departments planned before are now not going to take place.
On 3 August, Commissioner for Human Rights in Saint Petersburg Alexander Shishlov held a working meeting with representatives of the Russian MIA’s General Department for Staint Petersburg and Leningrad Region and representatives of social organizations. The meeting was devoted to the matters of implementation of ‘The Citizen and Police’ project aimed at social monitoring of the law enforcement agencies’ activity.
The Commissioner for Human Rights in Saratov Region published the results of monitoring of the citizens’ petitions in the first half of 2016. In total, the Commissioner received 1,494 petitions.
10 platforms equipped with ramps are to be constructed on the Circum-Baikal Railway in 2018. The railway’s infrastructure is planned to be adapted for persons with mobility impairments. The above was reported by the Deputy Head of the Railway in his letter to Commissioner for Human Rights in Irkutsk Region Valeriy Lukin.
Chairman of the Government of Russia Dmitry Medvedev approved the initiative of Commissioner for Human Rights in Leningrad Region Sergey Shabanov. Following the instruction of the Prime Minister, the Federal Environmental, Industrial and Nuclear Supervision Service begins to elaborate a new draft resolution of the Russian Government. The resolution will establish the procedure and criteria for accreditation of organisations estimating the compliance of elevators which have already served their term with the current requirements.
In July 2016, two sessions for children with autism and other developmental disorders were held within the framework of the programme ‘Special Families. Unlimited Life’ with assistance of the Commissioner for Human Rights in Chelyabinsk Region.
Since the end of July 2016, commissioners for human rights in a number of constituent entities of the Russian Federation with assistance of local election commissions open hotlines to protect the Russian citizens’ electoral rights. Such hotlines will help to ensure the transparency of election process and to respond efficiently to the violations.
