Commissioner for Human Rights in Nizhny Novgorod Region Nadezhda Otdelkina assisted in solving the problem with water supply.
On 3 June, on the initiative of Commissioner for Human Rights in Krasnodar Territory Sergey Myshak a round table devoted to the issues of civil society development was held in the region. The proposal to establish a club of Kuban Civil Society Activists, which would become a new discussion platform for representatives of the public and authorities, was the main topic of the event. The idea of establishing the club belongs to Sergey Myshak.
On 2 June, a round table named ‘Issues of Mental Health of the Population. Current Issues of Observance of Rights of Citizens Suffering from Mental Disorders’ was held in Novosibirsk Region. As a result a working group was formed to consolidate the received information and develop recommendations for legislative and executive bodies to prevent violations of rights of citizens suffering from mental disorders.
On 3 June, Commissioner for Human Rights in the Komi Republic Nadezhda Bikovskaya participated in the interdepartmental meeting on the improvement of mechanisms of ensuring human rights and legitimate interests of detainees or prisoners held in the pre-trial centres and penitentiaries of the Komi Republic Department of the Federal Penitentiary Service of Russia.
On 3 June, Commissioner for Human Rights in Ulyanovsk Region Lyudmila Krutilina participated in one of the stages of the Professional Citizen Forum run by the Ulyanovsk Region Governor’s Council for Civil Society and Human Rights. Day of Law and NGOs was held in the Veshkaymsky District on the last day of spring and included several important events.
On International Day for Protection of Children, results of children creative contest ‘My Family: Rights and Responsibilities’ were summarised in Omsk. The contest was organised by the Ministry of Education of Omsk Region jointly with Commissioner for Human Rights in Omsk Region Viktor Lokhichev and Omsk Governor Commissioner for Children’s Rights Elizaveta Stepkina. 111 children from substitute families participated in the contest.
With the assistance of Commissioner for Human Rights in Tomsk Region Elena Kartashova, labour rights of a pregnant woman were restored. The order of her discharge was cancelled, and all required payments were made.
On 2–3 June, Commissioner for Human Rights in Sverdlovsk Region Tatiana Merzlyakova will address the IV Intersectoral Forum of Industrialists, Industrial Waste Processors and Suppliers of Technology ‘Ural Market of Scrap and Industrial Wastes’ in Ekaterinburg with a report devoted to a role of civil society in resolving ecological conflicts.
A round table devoted to current issues of minors’ rights protection was held in the
Commissioner for Human Rights in Saratov Region Tatiana Zhurik held open office hours for residents of Khvalynskiy District via Skype. So, an opportunity to appeal to the Commissioner was provided to residents who face difficulties with traveling to the Region’s centre.
