On November 29, in Yerevan, High Commissioner for Human Rights in the Russian Federation Tatiana Moskalkova met with Ambassador of the Russian Federation to Armenia Alexey Kopyrkin at the International Conference dedicated to the
Participants discussed a wide range of human rights issues involving international and national aspects. In particular, Tatiana Moskalkova and Alexey Kopyrkin focused on problems and status of compatriots residing in Armenia.
Thus, at the end of last year, the number of Russian citizens with permanent residence was 21,609 people. 25,144 citizens of Armenia received Russian citizenship, and 13,320 people were granted a residence permit. In this regard, Tatiana Moskalkova noted the importance of interaction with Human Rights Defender of the Republic of Armenia Arman Tatoyan, including in the framework of the Eurasian Ombudsman Alliance.
In turn, Alexey Kopyrkin emphasized the need to maintain and strengthen cooperation between human rights institutions of Armenia and Russia and expressed readiness to provide assistance for human rights projects.
