On September 5, High Commissioner for Human Rights in the Russian Federation Tatiana Moskalkova met with Ambassador of the Republic of Azerbaijan to Russia Polad Bülbüloğlu.
The parties discussed the human rights agenda, including protection of Russian citizens’ rights abroad. The High Commissioner highlighted the importance of diplomatic relations between Russia and Azerbaijan and the attitude towards compatriots living in Azerbaijan: all the prerequisites are in place in Azerbaijan to bring up and teach children in the Russian language. According to estimates, 70 percent of Azerbaijani residents speak Russian.
Tatiana Moskalkova has also informed that she is to assist Azerbaijani citizen G. who has appealed to her to obtain a passport. The staff of the High Commissioner’s Office is to visit the Ulyanovsk Region to participate in the passport handing ceremony together with the representatives of the Embassy of Azerbaijan in the Russian Federation.
In conclusion, the High Commissioner for Human Rights in the Russian Federation invited the Ambassador of the Republic of Azerbaijan to participate in the Conference, dedicated to the 70th anniversary of the adoption of the Universal Declaration of Human Rights, that was to be held in early November.
