Tatiana Moskalkova expressed support for Polish Ombudsman

On February 21, High Commissioner for Human Rights in the Russian Federation Tatiana Moskalkova addressed words of support to Commissioner for Human Rights in the Republic of Poland Adam Bodnar.

Dear Dr. Bodnar,

I am writing to you in my capacity of the Commissioner for Human Rights in the Russian Federation to express my unequivocal support to the ombudsman institution of the Republic of Poland in relation to the initiated civil action brought against you in your professional capacity of the Commissioner for Human Rights of the Republic of Poland.

I firmly believe that judicial persecution of an ombudsman represents an outrageous act of violation of the fundamental functional rules of any national human rights institution which, according to the Paris principles, must possess functional immunity and independence.

Please accept the assurances of my highest consideration and respect of the work carried out by the Polish Commissioner for Human Rights in the field of promotion and protection of the rights of people.

Sincerely yours,

Prof. Tatiana Moskalkova

I welcome this balanced and consistent decision of the European parliamentarians, which is not only the affirmation of the unity and indivisibility of human rights geography, but also…
