High Commissioner will submit an Alternative Report on the Rights of Persons with Disabilities to the UN Committee

On January 31, High Commissioner for Human Rights in the Russian Federation Tatiana Moskalkova sent her Alternative Report on the compliance with the UN Convention obligations related to the rights of persons with disabilities for consideration by the UN Committee.

In February, the document will be presented to the international community during the 19th session of the UN Committee on the Rights of Persons with Disabilities which will be held in Geneva.

The Committee is a body of 18 independent experts supervising the implementation of the Convention on the Rights of Persons with Disabilities. All States Parties are required to regularly report to the Committee on the implementation of the rights enshrined in the Convention.
