High Commissioner met with Charge d'affaires of Canada

On February 1, High Commissioner for Human Rights in the Russian Federation Tatiana Moskalkova met with Charge d’affaires of Canada to the Russian Federation Stephane Jobin.
The parties discussed a broad human rights agenda. Tatiana Moskalkova told about the institute of the Russian ombudsperson, subjects of appeals, as well as tools for protecting and restoring violated rights.
According to Stephane Jobin, about 3,000 Canadians live in the Russian Federation. He stressed that he received no complaints against the violation of their rights in Russia.
The participants discussed international legal aspects of human rights protection. In particular, Tatiana Moskalkova focused on the human rights diplomacy and the protection of Russian citizens’ rights abroad. The High Commissioner also told Stephane Jobin about the Eurasian Ombudsman Alliance and the joint project of the Council of Europe and the Russian Federation "
At the end of the meeting, Tatiana Moskalkova and Stephane Jobin expressed interest in cooperating for protection of human rights at the international level.
