Commissioner helped to prove innocence of accused

High Commissioner for Human Rights in the Russian Federation Tatiana Moskalkova received an appeal from lawyer K. in defense of citizen B.

The criminal proceedings against the woman were initiated in 2016. According to the lawyer, B. did not commit any crimes, but was condemned, then the conviction was overturned, and the case was referred for further investigation that was conducted during the year.

Having familiarized with the materials provided, the High Commissioner sent a request to the Saratov Region Prosecutor’s Office.

As a result, the criminal proceedings against B. were terminated due to the absence of the elements of a crime in her actions.

In November the High Commissioner’s Office received the thanks of lawyer K: «During this time, we wrote hundreds of complaints, most of which received formal response. Thanks to your assistance we were heard. On my own behalf and on behalf of my client, I express to you and your staff deep gratitude for the support!».
