High Commissioner for Human Rights in the Russian Federation Tatiana Moskalkova received an appeal from M., who is serving a sentence in Penal Colony No. 9 of the Rostov Region Department of the Federal Penitentiary Service of Russia, with a complaint about the absence of registering and recording of his applications concerning the search for relatives.

According to the applicant’s report, he repeatedly urged the administration of the institution to restore socially useful links, but officials did not assist him.

Having familiarized with the materials provided, the High Commissioner sent a request to the Rostov Region Department of the Federal Penitentiary Service of Russia.

According to the response, the institution’s group dealing with social protection of convicted persons sent a request to the competent authorities, having indicated the background data of the alleged relatives of M.

Thus, with the assistance from the High Commissioner, measures were taken to help the convict.
