Interaction between local self-government and regional human rights commissioners discussed in Siberian Federal District
On 16 February, in Moscow, the Presidential Plenipotentiary Envoy to the Siberian Federal District Nikolai Rogozhkin held a video conference regarding interaction of state authorities and local self-government bodies with human rights commissioners in the federal district’s territorial entities.
On 16 February, President of the Civic Chamber Alexander Brechalov sent an official letter of appeal to President of Russia Vladimir Putin drawing his attention to the problem of remand centres in Russia. The letter says about a dramatic increase in the number of detainees in remand facilities and disastrous conditions of custody.
