On 12 August, Commissioner for Human Rights in Sverdlovsk Region Tatiana Merzlyakova repeated her visit to the temporary detention centre (IVS) at the Zarechniy Intermunicipal Department of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Russia in Beloyarskiy Settlement. Following the visit, the Commissioner noted improvement of detention conditions.
In early August, the right of residents to be provided with hot water supply was restored in the city of Nikolsk with assistance of Commissioner for Human Rights in Penza Region Elena Rogova.
An illustrated and full-colored Activity Report 2014 of the Commissioner for Human Rights in the Chuvash Republic came out.
On 7 August, Commissioner for Human Rights in Kamchatka Territory Irina Orlova and territorial Commissioner for Children’s Rights Viktor Tyumentsev held a scheduled detention conditions’ inspection in the Pre-Trial Detention Centre No. 1 of the Kamchatka Territory Directorate of the FPS of Russia. No infringements were found out.
On 10 August, Commissioner for Human Rights in Novosibirsk Region Nina Shalabaeva visited the Special Temporary Accommodation Centre for Aliens (SUVSIG), the Novosibirsk Region Directorate of the Federal Migration Service of Russia.
On 7 August, participants in the section named ‘NGOs and Human Rights’ held at the 3rd Republican Forum of Community Focussed Non-Government Organisations, co-chaired by Commissioner for Human Rights in the Republic of Tatarstan Saria Saburskaya, presented their proposals on development of institutes of civil society and NGOs.

On 3–6 August, a representative of the High Commissioner for Human Rights in Russia, officers of the Chief Prosecutor’s Office and staff members of the Western Military District Prosecutor’s Office inspected jointly the 28th Independent Disciplinary Battalion at the Military Unit No. 12801 in Mulino Village, Nizhniy Novgorod Region.
On 6 August, Prosecutor of the Republic of Bashkortostan Andrey Nazarov and regional Commissioner for Human Rights Rim Kayumov conducted a joint inspection of the Correctional Facility of Special Regime No. 4 and the Correctional Medical Facility No. 19 in Salavat.
Under the aegis of Commissioner for Human Rights in Yaroslavl Region Sergei Baburkin, the region launched a campaign named ‘Let’s Protect Our Children’ intended to remind parents about their responsibility. The campaign has been caused by a chain of tragic events: for the last two months six children fell out the window, one of them died.
