Commissioner in Irkutsk Region addressed Government to protect interests of public services consumers
On 11 August, a regular release of the ‘Human Rights’ programme was aired on the Public Television of Russia channel (OTR). It was devoted to the protection rights of citizens who suffered from microfinance companies. Commissioner for Human Rights in Chelyabinsk Region Margarita Pavlova has initiated the discussion.
Rights of a northern village resident to compensation for expenses incurred while travelling to the place of his holiday have been protected through legal proceedings. The pensioner of the village of Parabel has been reimbursed for travelling costs after interference of Commissioner for Human Rights in Tomsk Region Elena Kartashova.
Commissioner for Human Rights in Krasnoyarsk Region Mark Denisov initiated elimination of abusive symbols on one of the buildings. Following the Prosecutor’s inspection requested by the Commissioner, the director of the local utility company was warned against violation of the anti-extremism law.
The Sukhanov Federal Center of Cardiovascular Surgery in Perm will buy new heart pacemakers complemented with a universal electronic card. The card containing the patient’s and pacemaker’s data will allow its holder to pass by metal detector frames. The proposal to provide all patients with heart pacemakers with such a card was intitiated by Commissioner for Human Rights in Perm Territory Tatiana Margolina.
Irkutsk Commissioner requested Prosecutor to take measures regarding mass violations of rights of people held in temporary holding facilities
On 5 August, Commissioner for Human Rights in Irkutsk Region Valeriy Lukin visited temporary holding facilities of the Ekhirit-Bulagatsky Interdistrict Unit of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Russia in Bayanday Village to inspect conditions of detention of suspects and accused persons. In view of the failures found out during the inspection the Commissioner requested the Prosecutor of Irkutsk Region to take adequate measures.
On 3 August, Commissioner for Human Rights in Ulyanovsk Region Lyudmila Krutilina took part in the First Open Public Prosecution Forum in Ulyanovsk Region. The problems of statutory compliance in the field of social protection of disabled people were considered as part of the forum’s second module.
On 4 July, a live broadcast of the regular programme ‘Human Rights’ took place on the Public Television of Russia. It was devoted to public legal education in the housing and utility services field, which is not quite popular with national broadcasters. The programme’s guest was Commissioner for Human Rights in Tula Region Galina Fomina who believes that nowadays each owner should possess at least some minimum of legal knowledge.
