The Coordinating Council of Commissioners for human rights held in the Far Eastern Federal District.

Commissioner for Human Rights in the Khabarovsk region, the chairperson of the Coordinating Council of Commissioners for human rights in the Far Eastern Federal District Igor Chesnitsky held an extended meeting of the Coordinating Council of Commissioners for Human Rights in the Far Eastern Federal District in the city of Yakutsk on 22nd of June.

Subject of the meeting: "Topical issues of rights protection, freedoms and legitimate interests of residents of the northern territories of the regions of the Far Eastern Federal District".

Commissioners for Human Rights and Commissioners for the rights of small indigenous peoples from 9 regions of the Russian Federation of 4 federal districts participated in the extended meeting of the Coordinating Council, because the raised theme is important not only for the Far East, but also for other regions of Russia. Representatives of federal and regional public authorities, representatives of local government bodies and public associations also participated in the meeting.

Acting Head of the Republic of Sakha (Yakutia) Aysen Nikolaev addressed the participants of the meeting. He noted the important role of Commissioners for human rights in the case of citizens rights protection in their statement.

The High Commissioner for Human Rights in the Russian Federation Tatiana Moskalkova sent a greeting to the Coordinating Council members. She noted that today the issues of the residents rights protection of the northern territories of the Far Eastern Federal District are being brought to the forefront in her video address.

Addressing the audience, Tatiana Moskalkova stressed that the proposals that were sent by regional human rights Commissioners to the heads of constituent entities of the Russian Federation were submitted for consideration to the deputy corps of legislative bodies and accumulated in the state program "Social and Economic Development of the Far East and the Baikal Region". The High Commissioner for Human Rights in the Russian Federation also expressed the readiness to support the proposals resulting at the meeting of the Coordinating Council so that they could be implemented in practice.

With welcoming remarks to the participants of the meeting addressed the President of the Constitutional Court of the Republic of Sakha (Yakutia) Alexander Kim-Kimen and Deputy Chairman of the State Assembly of the Republic of Sakha (Yakutia) Viktor Gubarev.
During the meeting, reports were made by Commissioner for human rights of the Republic of Sakha (Yakutia) Sardana Gurieva, the prosecutor of the Republic of Sakha (Yakutia) Nikolay Pilipchuk, the chairperson of the Coordinating Council of Commissioners for human rights in the Siberian Federal District, Commissioner for human rights in the Krasnoyarsk region Mark Denisov, Commissioner for human rights in the Magadan Region Oleg Mihailuk, Commissioner for human rights in the Chelyabinsk region Margarita Pavlova, Commissioner for human rights in the Yaroslavl region Sergey Baburkin, Commissioner for the rights of small indigenous peoples of the North in the Republic of Sakha (Yakutia) Konstantin Robbek, Commissioner for the rights of small indigenous peoples in the Krasnoyarsk region Semyon Palchin, Commissioner for the rights of small indigenous peoples in the Kamchatka region Rose Dolgan, the chairperson of the Standing Committee of the Legislative Duma of Khabarovsk Region on budget, taxes and economic development Natalia Pudovkina.

The participants of the meeting discussed the proposals made aimed at improving the legislation in the field of protecting the rights of residents of the northern territories. The proposals will be included in the decision of the Coordinating Council.

Members of the Coordinating Council took part in other events organized by Commissioner for human rights in the Republic of Sakha (Yakutia) Sardana Gurieva. Among them: the annual republican seminar-meeting "Actual issues of the human rights protection and freedoms in the Republic of Sakha (Yakutia)" for public representatives of the regional Commissioner for human rights who carry out their activities in the municipalities of the Republic; round table on the labor rights protection of employees of non-state sector organizations.
