On February 27, Commissioner for Human Rights in the Udmurt Republic Veniamin Solomennikov presented a report on his activities to the State Council of the Udmurt Republic.
Veniamin Solomennikov told the deputies about the main directions of work in the field of human rights for 2017. In particular, the regional Commissioner reported on the results of the personal receptions of residents and monitoring of the observance of the rights of citizens.
In addition, Veniamin Solomennikov paid special attention to legal education and work with citizens' appeals. According to the regional Commissioner, in 2017 about 1,500 complaints were considered.
"About 40 percent of the applicants received real help; the rest are given explanations of possible ways to protect their rights, assistance was provided in the preparation of lawsuits and other documents," Veniamin Solomennikov said.
As a result of the speech, the State Council of the Udmurt Republic decided to carry out measures to organize proper protection of the rights, freedoms and legitimate interests of a person and a citizen in 2018.
