Tambov Commissioner defended ecological rights of citizens

Commissioner for Human Rights in the Tambov Region Vladimir Repin received a collective appeal from the inhabitants of Goreloe village. Citizens complained about water supply and sewage systems being out of order.

"Due to destroyed water tower inhabitants of the street are barely provided with drinking water, there is industrial water running out of taps, which does not comply with any hygiene requirements. Drinking water supply is not provided by the government of the village council. Moreover, for several years there has been an inadequate sewage system: sewage wells and the collector are clogged, there is a river pollution," the letter read.

Familiarized with the submitted materials, Vladimir Repin and members of competent authorities met with complainants. As a result of the meeting representatives of local authorities told about measures, which would be implied for the solution of the problem. A Head of village council assured that water tower would be installed during 2018, but in the meantime villagers would be provided with access to the intake of drinking water. Furthermore, a deputy head of the district administration promised to organize sewer cleaning works throughout a week. At the same time, reconstruction of sewage system is necessary for the complete solution of the problem, in this connection, the local authorities will submit an application for the management of the fuel and energy and housing and utilities of the region for the inclusion in the programme «Provision of affordable and comfortable housing and communal services to citizens of the region» for 2014–2020 years.

The situation is under the personal control of the ombudsperson.
