Resocialization of convicts discussed in Ulyanovsk Region

On 6 July, under the auspices of Commissioner for Human Rights in the Ulyanovsk Region Lyudmila Krutilina a seminar on the application of regional legislation related to the issues of resocialization of citizens released from places of detention was held in Ulyanovsk.

The event was attended by representatives of law enforcement agencies, city administration, executive authorities and public organizations.

The seminar participants considered aspects of the convicts’ rights protection, in particular, the procedure for providing free legal aid was discussed.

As a result of the discussion, a number of decisions and recommendations were adopted, among them the proposal to the Agency for Human Development of the Ulyanovsk Region on the introduction of the employment system for released prisoners and the study of the experience in terms of re-socialization of convicts in the constituent entities of the Russian Federation.
