On 19–20 August, Commissioner for Human Rights in Tula Region Galina Fomina met with Commissioner for Human Rights in the city of Moscow Tatiana Potyaeva.
The Commissioners held joint open office hours to consider complaints of those petitioners whose problems may require competence of both ombudspersons.
Later the Commissioners took part in a round table named ‘Special Children Need Special Care’ and held in a social rehabilitation centre for minors in Tula. Galina Fomina underlined that Russia needs to follow the principles of the UN Convention on the Rights of Persons with Disabilities, informed about the measures taken by the regional authorities to support the families that bring up children with disabilities, and gave examples of success and improvements of such children. Tatiana Potyaeva reported about financing and social support of families with special children.
