Buryat Commissioner calls on to tackle waste recycling problem

On 13 February, Commissioner for Human Rights in the Republic of Buryatia Yulia Zhambalova and representatives of the regional Civic Chamber inspected waste storages. Earlier, ten citizens petitioned the Commissioner about violation of their right to healthy environment.

Following the joint inspection, Yulia Zhambalova said that 580 unauthorized waste storages had been revealed in the Republic of Buryatia. The Commissioner stated that a single waste recycling operator should be created in order to tackle the problem at the republican level.
