On 20 December, the 4th Regional Human Rights Protection Forum ‘Topical Issues of Human and Civil Rights Protection in Tula Region’ took place in Tula under the aegis of the local Commissioner for Human Rights, Galina Fomina.
The event, which gathered more than 600 persons, was attended by heads of regional law enforcement agencies, representatives of ministries and departments of the Government of Tula Region, leaders of human rights organisations, as well as schoolchildren and students.
Welcoming addresses by High Commissioner for Human Rights in the Russian Federation Tatiana Moskalkova and commissioners for human rights in a number of Russian regions were read out at the opening ceremony.
The forum summed up the human rights protection work during the year in Tula Region and the paths of development of the regional human rights protection institution. In particular, the participants developed an algorithm for creating a youth human right protection community under the aegis of the regional Commissioner. Following the event, the participants adopted a resolution.
In her speech Commissioner For Human Rights in Tula Region Galina Fomina said that this year more than 11 thousand inhabitants of the region have received competent consultations and necessary support related to human rights protection issues.
In conclusion, Galina Fomina awarded prizes and valuable gifts to winners of a patriotic competition among schoolchildren and students.
