Urgent Statement by High Commissioner on Pension System Reforming

The President has outlined the scope of the reform and explained its mechanism. The reform is a necessary but comprehensive measure consisting of many components that make it comfortable for people. That is not just an automatically increase of the retirement age but a gradual increase in the age limit, accompanied by pension increase, extension of social guarantees and benefits, which are especially important with respect to human rights protection. It is a gradual evolution to make life better today and much better tomorrow. The President has outlined steps which would make it possible to achieve. It is also important that the Head of State has heard the public opinion and engaged in a confidential dialogue with people. Vladimir Putin has once again proved that he is a true guarantor of the rights and freedoms of Russian citizens.

That was another master class of communicating with civil society and, in my opinion, another success.
