Topical issues of human rights protection discussed in preparation for 2018 FIFA World Cup

On September 29, the round table «Promoting diversity and creating a non-discriminatory environment in cities hosting the 2018 FIFA World Cup — the role Moscow» was held at the Moscow Public and Parliamentary Center. On behalf of the High Commissioner for Human Rights in the Russian Federation, Deputy Head of Chancery of the High Commissioner for Human Rights in the Russian Federation Ivan Solovyov took part in the event.

The participants of the round table shared the best practices on prevention of discrimination in any form.

The partner of the event is the Office of the UN High Commissioner for Human Rights. Commissioners for Human Rights in the constituent entities of the Russian Federation in which football matches will take place, representatives of the Moscow Government, the Russian Ministry of Internal Affairs, the 2018 World Cup Organizing Committee, the European Coalition of Cities against Racism also participate in this work.

I was approached by citizen F., who was born in the city of Marhanets, Dnipropetrovsk Region of Ukraine.
