Tatiana Moskalkova participated in Public Chamber plenary session

On June 19, High Commissioner for Human Rights in the Russian Federation Tatiana Moskalkova took part in the first plenary meeting of the Public Chamber of the Russian Federation of a new (seventh) composition, which will work from 2020 to 2023.

During the meeting, issues of organizing the activities of the Public Chamber were considered and priorities for its work for the next three years were determined.

In her speech, Tatiana Moskalkova noted the importance of the High Commissioner’s interaction with the Public Chamber in order to protect the rights and interests of citizens.

"We work closely with the Public Chamber and carry out large-scale PMC projects," the High Commissioner noted.

In addition, the federal ombudswoman paid attention to joint work during the preparation and conduct of the all-Russian vote on the approval of amendments to the Constitution of the Russian Federation.

According to the High Commissioner, the Public Chamber serves as a discussion platform for protecting the rights of various categories of citizens, launching large-scale social projects. The federal ombudswoman emphasized the need to implement legal education projects, including those related to strengthening public control in prisons.

"I call on you to engage in a wide work on legal education, to increase guarantees of the rights and interests of the individual. I wish all members of the Public Chamber strength and courage to confront injustice and the violation of human rights and in every way contribute to the prosperity of Russia," Tatiana Moskalkova concluded.
