High Commissioner for Human Rights in the Russian Federation Tatiana Moskalkova agreed on the candidatures of Pavel Mikov (Perm Territory), Sardana Guryeva (Republic of Sakha (Yakutia), Tatiana Larina (Tula Region) and Oleg Mikhaylyuk (Magadan Region) as human rights commissioner.
During the meetings, parties discussed issues related to the observance of the rights and freedoms of citizens living in the regions of Russia. In particular, they talked about the problems in the field of social protection, social security, health care, housing and communal services, protection of prisoners' rights and ensuring the rights of disabled people.
Tatiana Moskalkova also stressed the importance of interaction of regional ombudsmen with the human rights community. «We are a link in the state human rights system, which must necessarily rely on the institutions of civil society. And the main of them are human rights organizations, «the High Commissioner noted.
At the conclusion, Tatiana Moskalkova wished the future ombudsmen a successful election and productive immersion in the human rights agenda of the region.
