High Commissioner for Human Rights in the Russian Federation Tatiana Moskalkova received an application for state protection from lawyer B. engaged in the investigation of a criminal case related to excess of authority by officers of the Yaroslavl Penal Colony No. 1 and use of violence against convicts.
Based on the information provided, the High Commissioner twice appealed to the Chairman of the Investigative Committee of Russia.
According to the reply received, the investigative department of the Investigative Committee of Russia applied state protection measures, taking into account the applicant’s arguments. Special investigator of the Investigative Committee of the Russian Federation issued a decree on the implementation of state protection (security measures) to lawyer B. and her minor daughter.
The applicant sent a letter of thanks to the High Commissioner’s Office.
