On 7 December, a session of the Coordination Council of Russian Commissioners for Human Rights chaired by High Commissioner for Human Rights in Russia Ella Pamfilova was held in Moscow.
A broad range of issues were brought up within the framework of the meeting, including the coordination of interaction between the federal and regional commissioners when considering citizens' complaints.
The participants in the meeting focused on the problem of bringing the legislation of constituent entities of the Russian Federation in compliance with the federal legislation in order to improve the work of commissioners for human rights. In particular, they discussed the need to specify certain statutory provisions of the federal legislation and laws of constituent entities of the Russian Federation, which arose in connection with amendments to the Federal Constitutional Law On the Commissioner for Human Rights in the Russian Federation and certain legislative acts signed on 6 April 2015.
The participants in the meeting also exchanged views on interaction between regional commissioners for human rights and regional and federal authorities.
