RF constituent entities support adoption of draft federal law on regional Commissioners

The draft federal law "On General Principles of Organization and Operation of Commissioners for Human Rights in the Constituent Entities of the Russian Federation" was submitted to the State Duma. The law is aimed at the introduction of uniform standards to regulate powers and guarantees of regional commissioners.

On the eve of the first reading of the draft law, round tables, discussions and conferences are held throughout the country to find the best solutions to grant regional ombudspersons the most comprehensive tools to protect human rights and freedoms.

The draft law has already been supported by regional legislative bodies of the Karachay-Cherkess Republic, the Republic of Sakha (Yakutia), the Republic of Khakassia, the Chuvash Republic, the Amur Region, the Belgorod Region, the Vladimir Region, the Kaliningrad Region, the Kaluga Region, the Murmansk Region, the Nizhny Novgorod Region, the Novgorod Region, the Penza Region, the Ryazan Region, the Tambov Region, the Krasnodar Territory, the Khabarovsk Territory.

Furthermore, the draft law is to be discussed in the People’s Assembly of the Republic of Ingushetia and the Bryansk Region Duma.
