On 1 November, High Commissioner for Human Rights in the Russian Federation Tatiana Moskalkova held a working meeting with President of the Conference of INGOs of the Council of Europe Anna Rurka.
Representatives of the Council of Europe, the Civic Chamber of the Russian Federation and the High Commissioner’s Office also took part in the meeting.
Tatiana Moskalkova said that she intended to develop trilateral cooperation between the Council of Europe, the High Commissioner for Human Rights in Russia and the Civic Chamber of the Russian Federation.
The High Commissioner also underscored that the President of Russia was especially focusing on the development of civil society institutions in Russia. "We are very interested in conducting round tables and holding dialogues related to education, protection of rights of students and young professionals. We are also interested in other projects related to social issues," Tatiana Moskalkova said.
The federal ombudsperson said that in politics Russia had already made big steps forward. In particular, there is an institute of public control over protection of rights of people in custody functioning in the country.
