Meeting with OHCHR representatives

On October 4, in the Office of the High Commissioner for Human Rights in the Russian Federation, Deputy Head of Chancery of the High Commissioner for Human Rights in the Russian Federation Ivan Solovyov met with representatives of the Office of the United Nations High Commissioner for Human Rights Program in Russia Rashid Aluash and Olga Salova.

As part of the further bilateral cooperation development, the parties updated the plan of joint actions in the field of legal education and discussed the implementation of training programs for employees of regional commissioners’ offices.

Particular attention was paid to the issues of preventing racial discrimination, xenophobia and other forms of discrimination in the preparation and holding of the 2018 World Cup in Russia.

In conclusion, the sides agreed on new directions of work and outlined the dates for holding joint events.

On September 11, in Kaluga, I held a personal reception of citizens together with the regional ombudsman Yuriy Zelnikov. I was approached by citizen F., who was born in the city of Marhanets, Dnipropetrovsk Region of Ukraine. As a child, he arrived in Russia with his parents, in 2007 his mother died, his father left for Ukraine.
