High Commissioner’s representative participated in ENNHRI meeting

On February 13 and 14, in Brussels, a representative of the High Commissioner for Human Rights in the Russian Federation participated in the European Network of National Human Rights Institutions meeting on the Role of NHRIs in (Post) Conflict Situations. The discussion was focused on the promotion and protection of human rights in non-government controlled areas.

The event involved heads and representatives of national human rights institutions of Armenia, Azerbaijan, Croatia, Cyprus, Finland, Georgia, Kosovo, Moldova, Serbia, Turkey, Ukraine, representatives of the Council of Europe, the European Union, OSCE, UN, and non-governmental organizations.

During the event, participants discussed the main difficulties faced by national human rights institutions in protecting human rights and freedoms in non-recognized territories, ways to interact with foreign colleagues and international organizations to find approaches to address these issues, shared best practices of their work.
