High Commissioner took control of defrauded borrowers situation

On April 4, the reception of citizens on personal issues took place in the Office of the High Commissioner for Human Rights in the Russian Federation.

The High Commissioner was approached by applicants who had suffered from the actions of LLC «International Credit Bureau», LLC «Moscow Mortgage Company», LLC «NEGUS» and other financial organizations that provide loans secured by real estate. As a result of inaction of law enforcement bodies, a group of citizens who had lost their homes organized a protest action in the form of a hunger strike.

Taking into account the resonant nature of the situation, High Commissioner for Human Rights in the Russian Federation Tatiana Moskalkova sent appeals to the Moscow and Volgograd regional prosecutors, the Deputy Minister of the Interior of the Russian Federation, the chief of the Investigation Department of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Russia, requesting that the applicants' arguments be examined and appropriate measures be taken to restore their violated rights.

In addition, in order to restore grave violations of the rights and freedoms of citizens of special social importance, the High Commissioner has issued a corresponding appeal to the Prosecutor General of the Russian Federation with a request to take special control of prosecution inspection of all the starving borrowers’ complaints.

Issues of restoring the rights of personal reception participants are under personal control of the federal ombudswoman.
