Expert Council under the High Commissioner approved its sections

High Commissioner for Human Rights in the Russian Federation Tatiana Moskalkova signed a regulation on creation of the following sections of the Expert Council under the High Commissioner for Human Rights in the Russian Federation:

— section on civil (personal) and political rights and liberties of man and citizen;

— section on social and educational rights and liberties of man and citizen;

— section on improvement of legislation relating to rights and liberties of man and citizen;

— section on education and human rights education in the field of rights and liberties of man and citizen;

— section on enforcement of rights and liberties of man and citizen in criminal proceedings and in detention facilities;

— section on international cooperation in the field of rights and liberties of man and citizen.

Heads of sections and the personnel will be appointed in the earliest possible timeframe.

On April 18, the first meeting of the Expert Council under the High Commissioner for Human Rights in the Russian Federation took place under the chairmanship of Tatiana Moskalkova.

The Expert Council’s missions are as following: to elaborate recommendations on the realization of main directions of activities of the High Commissioner, to consult and to inform the institute of the state rights activist about the situation in the field of enforcement and protection of human rights and liberties, to assist the High Commissioner in the organization and cooperation with state authorities and civil society institutions.
