On December 17, the III International Conference "Human rights protection in Eurasia: exchange of best practices of ombudsmen" will be held in Moscow. The conference is organized by the High Commissioner for Human Rights in the Russian Federation with the assistance from the Scientific and Educational Center for Human Rights.
The International Conference will be attended by:
— High Commissioner for Human Rights in the Russian Federation, Tatiana Moskalkova;
— President of the Parliamentary Assembly of the Council of Europe Liliane Maury Pasquier;
— Director of the OSCE Office for Democratic Institutions and Human Rights Ingibjörg Sólrún Gísladóttir;
— more than 80 international participants, including representatives of more than 20 national human rights institutions;
— representatives of public authorities, scientific and human rights communities.
The participants of the event will discuss the impact of integration processes in Eurasia on the protection of human and civil rights and freedoms, the implementation of monitoring mechanisms by national human rights institutions, as well as issues of protection of the rights of migrants, refugees and stateless persons.
The interaction of State human rights defenders in a multilateral format is one of the most effective channels of humanitarian cooperation among countries, allowing to exchange experience and best practices on human rights protection.
