On December 12–13, a joint seminar of the Commissioners for Human Rights in the subjects of the Russian Federation and Children’s Rights Commissioners is held in the Moscow Region.
The combination of two human rights institutions within the framework of one event is conditioned by certain factors. On the one hand, there are certainly many similarities in the work: both institutions primarily consider citizens' appeals, help people when all other legal possibilities are exhausted and the person has nowhere else to turn. On the other hand, institutions are independent from each other so the exchange of experience and lessons learned will be an invaluable contribution and will enhance the effectiveness of existing human rights mechanisms.
In addition, the event is an important link both in the interaction of the commissioners among themselves and in the dialogue of ombudsmen with representatives of state institutions.
